Today is a holiday for the hospital so Alvin came home early. Gracie and Will had the day off school. We will call it a "snow day" since there is so much snow back home! We have been battling a stomach virus. Prayers are appreciated. Hopefully, Alvin will not get it.
Please pray for a sweet baby named Ruth who came from the baby center. The baby center is an orphanage about 4 hours from here. She has had severe stomach problems and has coded twice. Please pray for healing and wisdom for the doctors.
We are thankful that our God "is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us." He is the Great Physician! There is one patient at the hospital that had been on a ventilator for over a month. She is now off the ventilator, sitting up at the bedside, and even took a few steps with physical therapy.
The ortho team has decreased in size since we arrived. Yesterday, on rounds there was only one orthopedic surgeon, one resident, one medical student, a clinical officer intern, and myself. Thats down from two surgeons, four residents, a medical student, a clinical officer, and an intern, and myself. Thankfully, the inpatient list has decreased some also. This week the number was less than thirty for the first time since we arrived.
Please pray for the patients here. There are a lot of bad fractures, but also a lot of bad soft tissue injuries. One man we washed out again this morning has lost approximately 65% of the skin on his leg between the knee and ankle. Another lady's hand was caught in a machine at a tea factory last week. She has had several "washouts", but now needs a skin graft.
Most of all pray for those who have not accepted Christ as there Saviour, for they have the greatest
need.
Pictures are posted on Facebook and in Dropbox.
Thanks for all the support and encouragement,
Alvin, Anna, Gracie, and Will

Greetings from Kenya!
It is 2:00 pm and a beautiful day! The sun is shining brightly and it is quite warm. Alvin is home for lunch. He usually comes home everyday to eat with us. Needless to say, we love it! The food here has been very good. Will even likes it and wants me to bring home the recipes. We have a sweet lady named Regina who is our house help. She does most of the cooking and cleaning. It seems odd to have someone else do our work, but it provides her a job so she can provide for her family.
Alvin has been busy. The needs here are great! He is usually in the clinic three days a week and in the OR two days. Please pray for him as the language barrier is a struggle.
Gracie and Will have adjusted well. They enjoy playing with all the kids, both Kenyans and missionary kids. Homeschooling has been an adjustment for us all, but the kids are doing well. We were able to visit an orphanage on Saturday. It was a blessing to play with the children. Gracie wanted to bring home a little girl. They were so precious.
Please continue to keep us in prayer, as well as the nationals and other missionaries.
We love you all!
Alvin, Anna, Gracie and Will

Arrival at Tenwek
Hey, we arrived safely at Tenwek Saturday! The connecting flights were all on time and Gracie and Will traveled well. We attended the church on the hospital grounds yesterday. The folks have given us a warm. Gracie and Will are having a big time playing with their new friends. Anna hasn't found anyone to talk too. ha ha
We met at seven this morning to begin rounding on the 40!!! Ortho patients that are at Tenwek! The residents had already seen patients before the official rounds began. Clinic went well today, but it appears we have busy day scheduled for the OR tomorrow (part of the team was in the OR working today also).
I will tried to post some pictures, but Internet service has not been great (the reason we could not blog yesterday). We have some pictures in our Dropbox account if you would like to view those.

Preparing for Tenwek
"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us", Eph. 3:20
Hello from the Murphys,
We are only two days from lift off!!! We are trying to finish up our preparation for our short-term medical mission trip to Tenwek Hospital, Bomet, Kenya. God has been very gracious to us by way of encouragement and support. We hope to keep you posted on our trip through this blog, but blogging is a new experience for us. If you happen to be receiving this blog, and would prefer not to, please let me know.
Please keep us in your prayers as we travel and serve at Tenwek. My prayer is that when people see our lives, they see Christ in us.
